Why did you become a member? Why are you still here?
I became a member because I was fascinated by the atmosphere. It seemed as if energy was in the air when you entered the AIESEC world. I was fascinated by the potential, with seeing idealism transforming into action and succeeding to change reality.
I`m still here, and I`m going to stay here because of that. Because this is a place where I grow myself and those around me, where I meet incredible people from all over the world, with whom I share deep values, and day by day, I feel the world is one.
What are the changes that AIESEC brought in your life?
I developed a lot of skills and abilities, ranging from public speaking, to project management, team management and so forth. More importantly, to a certain extent, I can say that it gave me the space where I could find meaning.

What is the coolest thing you've done in AIESEC?
Spent two weeks in India with people from 110 countries.
What role does AIESEC have in your future career?
It gives me the space to shape the person I`m going to be in that future career. I get to choose what I want to develop at myself, and I connect that to the career I want to build.
What was your greatest challenge while being an AIESECer?
Dealing with failure. There were times in the last three years where I did not achieve what I expected of myself, or what others expected from me. And it was hard. Yet in the end I overcome that feeling and pushed myself to go forth and do what I love doing.
What does cultural diversity means to you in AIESEC? Tell us when did you actually feel it?
I guess the first time I felt cultural diversity is when I was a new member, back in 2007, and I met the president of AIESEC in Thailand whom came into my home town. She spent about a week there and we had a lot of interesting conversations, and I got the chance to become fascinated with Thai culture.
What are the social activities in AIESEC you have participated in? What made them different and attractive?
The most memorable activities have been the 32 conferences I`ve been in so far. Sure, they are not social activities at their core, learning being the main thing, but the space in between and after the session to network, meet different people and challenge your perspective or just have interesting conversations has always filled me up with energy. The difference is that, unlike other places I`ve had the chance to socialize so far, you really get to meet a lot of people with whom you share the same ideals and values. It`s really amazing!
And... a message for our future members?
You only live this moment once. Do your best to make the most of it. AIESEC, just like everything else in our lives comes and goes. If you are here, make the most of it. You may just be the first president of AIESEC International coming from Azerbaijan.

Mihai Negru

Why did you become a member? Why are you still here?

I become an AIESEC member because I wanted to work abroad, to meet new people and do something with my life as a student. I thought my studies were not enough for my future career and some practical experience would help.
What are the changes that AIESEC brought in your life?

My whole life perspective changed. I become a more self aware and self confident person. I traveled a lot more in my last four years as an AIESEC member, more than I did in my life.

What is the coolest thing you've done in AIESEC?
There are many cool things that I have done in AIESEC. One was my leadership experience as Vice President in my local committee in Galati, Romania. It was a year where a lead my department team towards achieving our goals and also being part of the executive team of our local committee. Another cool thing was going to one of the biggest international conference in Brazil. It was a huge learning experience for me and a unique experience far away from my home country.
What role does AIESEC have in your future career?
AIESEC had a huge role in opening my perspective towards my career. One opportunity that can boost my career is our international exchange program. I know that when I am going to finish my AIESEC experience I will have the opportunity to work abroad in of the 110 countries where AIESEC activates.
What was your greatest challenge while being an AIESECer?
I guess my biggest challenge until now in AIESEC was to make the step between being a team player to a leader. First I applied for a project manager position within the organization and I didn't get it. Eight months later after being involved in other projects, going abroad I decided to apply for a higher position, as vice president and I got it. I think the challenges that I had were with myself. AIESEC created that environment to always challenge myself.
What does cultural diversity means to you in AIESEC? Tell us when did you actually feel it?
Cultural diversity means being around people from different countries. I felt that when I was abroad for three months in exchange in Italy and in my local committee being around interns. I got to know people from 10 different cultures while I was a member.
What are the social activities in AIESEC you have participated in? What made them different and attractive?
I participated in team buildings, parties, global villages and many more. The difference is the feeling that you get is being part of a team, striving for goals and you really get to know people. The difference stands in the enthusiasm and energy that they have.
And... a message for our future members?
Get involved as much as you can. It’s the only way you will learn things and get a fulfilling experience.

Kent Babin

Why did you become a member? Why are you still here?
I became a member of AIESEC so I could go on exchange. Getting international work experience was very important for me at the time and AIESEC was the organization that would give me the best opportunities to work abroad. I’m still involved with AIESEC because I want to be able to give new members the same experience that I had.
What are the changes that AIESEC brought in your life?
AIESEC gave me the opportunity to live abroad. I am almost certain that if I hadn’t done an internship, I would still be in Canada right now.

Iulian Boia

Why did you become a member? Why are you still here?
I've entered AIESEC because I wanted more than the opportunities my faculty could provide. I was interested in entrepreneurship and interaction with the corporate sector, meeting new people and creating or participation to the creation of something meaningful, both for me and others - that's what I found in AIESEC and that's why I'm still here :-).
What are the changes that AIESEC brought in your life?
Well, firstly, I think it let me know what I'm capable of, it made me aware of my strengths and had me practice them. In terms of changes: self awareness and self confidence; more perspective, management skills, a couple of new friends in Romania and some other countries, a busy schedule and a feeling of doing something meaningful.

Anca Ursu

Why did you become a member? Why are you still here?
I became part of AIESEC because I always had the feeling I could do more, for me and for others. I had this energy that needed a place to unfold, a place where I could learn more and grow more.
I am still here because AIESEC became part of me. And I realized that my expectations where fullfilled and overcomed. I am at that point where the changes are more obvious, where I want to develop not only myself, but also others.
What are the changes that AIESEC brought in your life?
I spoke in public - and did it both great and not so great at different times.
I became more aware of the world around me - both local business world and international world, with all the different ways of life.
I traveled to Holland visiting some people I met in AIESEC.
I learned practical management skills and put them into practice.
I made a hole bunch of mistakes and learned from them.
I became more self aware and self confident and this process is still ongoing.
I became more tolerant and learned things from people I might have never talked to otherwise.

What is the coolest thing you've done in AIESEC?
I would have to say walking on fire is the coolest.
What role does AIESEC have in your future career?
Probably not a decisive one regarding the field I would be working in, because I had the chance to experience many things in AIESEC and at school and still I am not entirely sure what I will do next. But AIESEC has a great role regarding my attitude towards work. I am sure now that I will look for a place to work best suited for my personality and for my skills and I will surely have the guts to start my own dream job if the existing ones don't fully satisfy me.
I know now, though, that my heart and my skills are in the people area, like education or human resources, because I had the chance to practice these fields and did it well.
What was your greatest challenge while being an AIESECer?
I don't want to choose, so I will briefly say a few: speaking in public in front of an amfitheatre full of students thinking about joining us; coordinating teams in order to achieve a vision I had. Making them believe in that vision and having them also work for what we all wanted; accept ing my mistakes and coming back in order to fix them; transmiting my emotional attachement and my personal view of AIESEC to members that were different than me; explaining to my grandparents what "training" means and what I do every day in AIESEC.
What does cultural diversity means to you in AIESEC? Tell us when did you actually feel it?
For me it's not only about different languages or different countries. I also experienced this by meeting dutch people, americans with a hole layed back vision of life, lithuanians and a few other cultures.
But the true sense of divertisy is for me learning to work and to believe in the same thing as people so different than you, that you would never talk to if it wasn't for AIESEC bringing you together. I can't say this last thing you feel at some point exactly, because being tolerant and learning to use the differences between people, this you do every day.
What are the social activities in AIESEC you have participated in? What made them different and attractive?
I've been to a bunch: parties, cocktails, conferences, award galas, teambuildings, movie nights, road trips.
The energy you feel in a conference is like nothing you ever experienced before. 4 days of constant challenge. The main difference these AIESEC social events bring is the enthusiasm and the feeling you belong to something amazing.
And... a message for our future members?
Come to our office to see where we work. Come to us and talk to us to see what we do. Come to the Big Picture presentation to feel the energy.

Self confidence, challenges, practical skills and network, the ability to produce change, this is what should bring you here, make you stay and remain with you after you leave.

Simona Berbec

Why did you become a member? Why are you still here?
Even before starting university I knew that I want to do something more than going to classes and learning for exams, but I didn't have a very clear vision of what I want to do so I was opened to any opportunity. So one friend told me to go to this room B606 and take an application form for a youth organization. The rest is the same as for everyone else: interview, trainings, first conference and so on.
I didn't give up AIESEC (although I was considering that after a few months spent in the organization and after several failures) because I somehow felt that I have to prove that I can do more and because I really felt that it is the right place to be in.
What are the changes that AIESEC brought in your life?
AIESEC changed so many things in my life. I made a lot of friends, I met many people from all over the world, I traveled a lot and most of all I invested my free time and a lot of my energy in my own development while helping other young people develop themselves.

What is the coolest thing you've done in AIESEC?
The thing that I most proud of is that for a couple of months I lead a team of more than 60 people, all of them being 1 or more years older than me.
What role does AIESEC have in your future career?
I don't have an exact answer for this question, but I am sure that the experience I gathered while volunteering in AIESEC will help me step out of the crowd and prove that I am a different kind of candidate for a certain job.
What was your greatest challenge while being an AIESECer?
The biggest challenge was to change myself. Ever since I joined the organization I struggled to improve myself and each day I tried to become a better me. The feedback I got from the people I worked with (my team mates, the people I led) helped me become aware of the things I have to improve in order to become a better person, a better team mate, a better leader and so on.
What does cultural diversity means to you in AIESEC? Tell us when did you actually feel it?
When I attended an international conference in Germany I was surrounded by a lot of AIESECers from different countries (UK, Finland, Columbia, India, Serbia), who spoke different languages, who had different religions or none, who grew up and lived in different environments.
At first I thought that they are different than I am and I didn't know how to approach them or what to talk to them about, but by the end of the conference I realized that we have a lot in common and that the cultural differences make up the thin surface of our cultural identity and that they don't have a profound influence on the way we think, on the things we like or dislike or on our opinions.
I was able to discus about the differences between the countries we come from and reach common opinions about certain things.
Therefore I believe that cultural diversity is not a drawback for intercultural cooperation or communication, on the contrary, I believe that it helps us get a broader view on the world and on the situations that we have to face.
What are the social activities in AIESEC you have participated in? What made them different and attractive?
As an AIESEC member I attended a lot of parties, cooking nights, birthday parties and so on. What I like about all these events is that I am always surrounded by people that I like spending time with because we have a lot of things in common and because I always have something to learn from them and of course because we always have a blast together! :-)
And... a message for our future members?
If AIESEC is the right path you want to take and if you feel that it fits you then don't give up too easily. AIESEC has a lot to offer to its members only if you are patient and if you are willing to give back as much as you get. Take your time, don't judge things/people too easily and make your AIESEC experience a life-changing one.
